This classic house was designed to reference classic farmhouse precedents, but in a way that felt fresh and up-to-date. We sited the house on top of a knoll, and gave it a shape that responded to the natural approach to the wooded site. The timeless, honest materials and color palette – earthy red brick, ivory board and batten, and silver galvalume roofing – were carefully chosen to maximize the visual impact of its simple, straightforward massing. Bold, exaggerated gables interplay with delicate exposed rafter tails and brackets to give the house a sense of animation and playfulness.
